ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were dispatched to a Bennett Road home in Monkton on Nov. 3 at around 12:25 p.m. for a report of a suspicious individual who was discovered hiding in a barn. Troopers said they found a woman identified as 37-year-old Jessica Baker of Starksboro and determined she had unlawfully trespassed into the barn. Police said they discovered that Baker was also in possession of a regulated drug. ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police operating out of the New Haven barracks were alerted to the presence of a dead man’s body off Route 53/Lake Dunmore Road in Salisbury on Tuesday morning, Oct. 8. Police said they suspected that the death, which they called a homicide, was connected to the Tuesday morning police shooting death of Christopher G. ADDISON COUNTY — Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were called to the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford on Oct. 1 at around 8 p.m. for a training accident involving a trainee for the Middlebury Police Department. Detectives learned that police recruits were involved in a low-light firearms training scenario supervised by certified firearms instructors. ADDISON COUNTY — A Vermont State Police trooper attempted to stop a Ford Focus on Route 7 in Middlebury for a traffic violation this past Saturday, Sept. 28, at around 10:30 p.m. After the trooper activated her blue lights and siren, the car sped up and failed to stop.  Police report that the vehicle turned into a local business in an apparent attempt to evade the trooper, and continued driving through several fields until it ultimately became stuck. ADDISON COUNTY — The spate of burglaries at commercial businesses continues.  On this past Tuesday, Sept. 17, Vermont State Police responded to an early morning report of a burglary at the Champlain Beverage store on Route 7 in Leicester. ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were called to a one-car crash on Fern Lake Road near Shackett Road in Leicester on Aug. 31 at a few minutes after 9 p.m. Troopers found a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country off the north side of the road with airbag deployment. They reported that driver Jesse Phillips, 38, of Leicester was unhurt in the crash, and he showed signs of alcohol impairment. ADDISON COUNTY — Troopers from the Vermont State Police barracks in New Haven responded to a call for assistance from the Shelburne Police Department at 8 a.m. on Aug. 22 with a car chase on Route 7. First, two men are recovering from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash involving a limousine and a pickup truck on Route 22A in Shoreham on Aug. 4. ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are looking into a spate of burglaries at Route 7 businesses this past Friday. Early on the morning of July 26 troopers at the New Haven barracks received information regarding three burglaries at three stores in Ferrisburgh and New Haven. Someone broke into the Dakin Farms and  Auto Creek A.C. Sports businesses in Ferrisburgh and into Cyclewise Inc. off Route 7 in New Haven.
