ADDISON COUNTY — On Nov. 30 Vermont State Police wrapped up their role in investigating a bad crash on Route 22A that had sent four people to the hospital with major injuries.
On Oct. 27 at 6:05 p.m. troopers from the New Haven state police barracks were dispatched to two-car, head-on crash on Route 22A near North Cream Hill Road in Bridport. Police report that a 2018 Jeep Compass driven by Tre W. Nichols, 21, of Burlington was traveling north at a speed of 58-59 mph, crossed the yellow centerline, and struck a southbound 2011 Hyundai Sonata driven by Tammy Simmes, 53, of Fair Haven.
ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were dispatched to a Bennett Road home in Monkton on Nov. 3 at around 12:25 p.m. for a report of a suspicious individual who was discovered hiding in a barn.
Troopers said they found a woman identified as 37-year-old Jessica Baker of Starksboro and determined she had unlawfully trespassed into the barn. Police said they discovered that Baker was also in possession of a regulated drug.
They took Baker to Porter Medical Center for evaluation and later released her with a citation for unlawful trespass and possession of a regulated drug.

ADDISON COUNTY — Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were called to the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford on Oct. 1 at around 8 p.m. for a training accident involving a trainee for the Middlebury Police Department.
Detectives learned that police recruits were involved in a low-light firearms training scenario supervised by certified firearms instructors. During the training scenario, Daniel Ailinger, 23, accidentally discharged his firearm while removing it from his holster, state police report.

ADDISON COUNTY — A Vermont State Police trooper attempted to stop a Ford Focus on Route 7 in Middlebury for a traffic violation this past Saturday, Sept. 28, at around 10:30 p.m. After the trooper activated her blue lights and siren, the car sped up and failed to stop.
Police report that the vehicle turned into a local business in an apparent attempt to evade the trooper, and continued driving through several fields until it ultimately became stuck. The driver fled on foot.

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were called to a one-car crash on Fern Lake Road near Shackett Road in Leicester on Aug. 31 at a few minutes after 9 p.m. Troopers found a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country off the north side of the road with airbag deployment.
They reported that driver Jesse Phillips, 38, of Leicester was unhurt in the crash, and he showed signs of alcohol impairment.
Police took Phillips into custody, processed him and cited him for driving under the influence and for driving with a criminally suspended license.

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are looking into a spate of burglaries at Route 7 businesses this past Friday.
Early on the morning of July 26 troopers at the New Haven barracks received information regarding three burglaries at three stores in Ferrisburgh and New Haven. Someone broke into the Dakin Farms and Auto Creek A.C. Sports businesses in Ferrisburgh and into Cyclewise Inc. off Route 7 in New Haven.
State police said that two cash boxes were reported stolen, though they didn’t specify from which businesses.
