Vigil for climate justice to be held Nov. 28 in Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — The Addison Interfaith Climate Action Network (ICAN) will hold a “Vigil for Climate Justice” at Triangle Park in Middlebury on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon.
This action will draw attention to and support the Paris Climate Talks beginning Dec. 1. The global climate movement 350.org, whose origins can be traced directly to a student movement at Middlebury College, is organizing actions all over the globe, and Middlebury will be one of those sites.
Organizers for 350.org have stated: “On the eve of the big U.N. summit in Paris, the climate movement is taking to the streets. With climate change in the global spotlight, this is our chance to make the talks work for our movement. Our message: Keep fossil fuels in the ground and finance a just transition to 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.”
Participants for the Nov. 28 vigil are asked to come to Triangle Park to show their support for this important global summit. Organizers will have signs available.
