Volunteer center is always online

UNITED WAY OF ADDISON COUNTY — It has been almost a year since the United Way of Addison County launched our new online Volunteer Center through our website and since then we have made some great strides with volunteers, funded partners, and with reaching and collaborating with different areas of our community.
The new online center offers everything that volunteers can access by walking in our office 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers can browse and respond to opportunities specific to the Addison County region as well as follow local organizations and track their volunteer hours. Since launching this site we have averaged over 70 hours tracked per month by individual volunteers in our community and in the last two months we partnered up with the Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op to provide an incentive contest to all of our volunteers who are tracking their hours on our site. Each month we put all of the volunteers who have tracked their hours that month into a drawing to win a $20 gift card to the co-op; we will continue to offer this incentive over the next 10 months.
For our local partners and area organizations the program offers a free platform to advertise volunteer needs, promote events, and spread the word about who they are and what exactly they do, their information reaches the programs nearly 360 registered volunteers any time they make an update to their profile. Currently the site supports 30 local agencies and organizations.
Looking ahead our goal for this program is to create an online “one stop shop” community bulletin board where individuals can not only access volunteer opportunities but also they can learn about local businesses, farmers markets, seasonal activities, and other area events and Addison County community news.
