Middlebury Police Log: Police treat man for self-inflicted injuries
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a Rogers Road home on Dec. 17 on a report of a domestic disturbance.
Police determined both parties were intoxicated and that no physical abuse had occurred. Police said one of the parties was taken to Porter Hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries. Officials from the Counseling Service of Addison County are assisting in the case, according to police.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Responded to report that someone had smashed pumpkins at a Maple Street location on Dec. 17.
• Were informed that a vehicle had left the scene of an accident on Court Street on Dec. 18.
• Searched in vain for what witnesses described as a “possibly intoxicated driver” on Creek Road on Dec. 19.
• Received a report about a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident on Washington Street on Dec. 19.
• Cited Jennifer Bergevin, 49, of Middlebury for uttering a forged instrument, following allegations that she had stolen and forged a check in the Main Street area on Dec. 19.
• Ticketed a youth for being a minor in possession of tobacco on Mainelli Drive on Dec. 19.
• Received a report that a woman had allegedly stolen a bottle of wine from the Middlebury Short Stop on Court Street Extension on Dec. 19.
• Gave a courtesy ride on Dec. 20 to a man who had been moving in and out of traffic on Seymour Street Extension on Dec. 20.
• Responded to a vehicle-pedestrian accident at the intersection of Main and Park streets on Dec. 20. Police said the pedestrian sustained minor injuries to his side and hand. The accident is under investigation, police said.
• Received a report on Dec. 20 about an “older” man “possibly having an inappropriate relationship” with a “younger” woman. The case is under investigation.
• Investigated a report of a woman sitting next to the railroad tracks off Cross Street on Dec. 20. Police said they were unable to find the woman.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a Water Street apartment on Dec. 20.
• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with an injured woman on Court Street on Dec. 21.
• Received a report that a person was sleeping in the ATM vestibule of the National Bank of Middlebury during the early evening of Dec. 21.
• Were informed someone had kicked a glass panel out of the bus stop on Academy Street on Dec. 21.
• Received a report on Dec. 21 that a Middlebury Union High School student had put his finger in his mouth and then had forced it into the mouths of three other students. The matter remains under investigation.
• Responded to a noise complaint on Court Street on Dec. 21.
• Searched in vain for a woman who had reportedly been yelling outside of Hannaford supermarket on Dec. 22.
• Investigated a report of a “suspicious person” hanging around a closed business in the South Village Green area on Dec. 23. Police said they could not find the person.
• Took, to Porter Hospital for evaluation, a woman who had reportedly been throwing things out of her North Pleasant Street apartment window on Dec. 24.
