Vermont State Police Log: Thieves targeted local vehicles

ADDISON COUNTY — Car crimes kept Vermont State Police busy last week.
Early in the week troopers received a report of a theft of an automobile from an unlocked garage off Sunny Valley Drive in Starksboro sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 14 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 14. The thief went into the garage through an unlocked side door and stole the unlocked automobile with the keys that were left inside.
The vehicle is described as a silver 2012 Volvo XC60 with the Vermont license plate CGH 550.

Then on Feb. 17 VSP logged a report of a theft of items from an unlocked automobile on Shellhouse Mountain Road in Ferrisburgh late the previous evening. State police ask anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect contact Cpl. Justin Busby at the above number or reach out with tips via text or anonymous tip line.
In other recent activity, troopers:
•  On Feb. 14 reported that River Road in New Haven was closed in both directions for several hours due to a motor vehicle crash. Police did not provide details on the crash.
•  On Feb. 16 responded to a report of a family fight on Big Hollow Road in Starksboro. Troopers investigated the incident that occurred around 7:30 p.m. the previous evening and said they determined that Dawn Moultroup, 42, of Starksboro assaulted a household member and damaged their vehicle.
Moultroup was arrested and transported to the New Haven barracks for processing. She was cited for domestic assault and unlawful mischief.
•  On Feb. 17 at around 8:15 p.m. received a report of a domestic assault that had occurred the previous day at 2 a.m. in the Finch Lane neighborhood of Starksboro. Police investigated and determined that Emil North, 19, of Starksboro assaulted a household member. Police arrested North, took him to the New Haven barracks for processing and cited him for domestic assault.
•  On Feb. 21 at around 7:33 p.m. responded to a one-car crash into a tree on Monkton Ridge Road in Monkton. Police report that driver Shilo Rinder-Goddard, 32, of New Haven and passenger Kylie Fleming, 35, of Bristol were transported to UVM Medical Center for injuries sustained in this crash. Police described Fleming’s injuries as serious, and Rinder-Goddard’s as minor.
Trooper Sean Hauter reported that alcohol impairment is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. The Ford Edge SUV was reported to be a total loss.
Police cited Rinder-Goddard for grossly negligent driving and giving false information to law enforcement. A drunk-driving charge was contingent on the results of a test on a blood sample, which has been sent to the lab.
