ADDISON COUNTY — The Vergennes and Middlebury union high school softball teams won their openers on Tuesday, but Otter Valley dropped its debut on the road to rival Fair Haven.
Defending Division II champion Mount Abraham was set to open on Saturday by hosting Missisquoi, but that game was postponed twice, first to Wednesday and then to this Friday. The Eagles will instead debut on Thursday, weather permitting, at home vs. OV.

ADDISON COUNTY — As the high school lacrosse season opened, both the Middlebury boys’ and girls’ teams rolled to big victories, but the Otter Valley boys came up short away from home.
The MUHS boys opened strong on Saturday, thumping host Burlington, 15-2. Bode Rubright (five goals, two assists) and Mason Kaufmann (four goals, two assists) led the Tiger offense, and team faceoff specialist Cameron Stone won 12 of 16.

ADDISON COUNTY — As the high school baseball season opened in the past few days, Otter Valley split two away games, and Mount Abraham dropped a road contest.
Vergennes had been set to open at Rice on Saturday, but that game was rained out. It was moved to May 25. The Commodores are scheduled to debut with games at Colchester on Thursday and Enosburg on Saturday.

ORLEANS — Top-seeded host Lake Region remained unbeaten by ousting the No. 8 Otter Valley Union High School girls’ basketball team, 60-32, in a Division III quarterfinal played on Saturday.
Sakoya Sweeney (19) and Tia Martinez (13) combined for 32 points for the winning Rangers.
Senior Mallory Lufkin (12 points) and junior Alice Keith (10) led the way in the scoring column for OV.
The Otters finished 4-6 after winning three of their final five games, including a convincing first-round playoff victory.

The 3-5 Otter Valley girls earned the No. 8 seed in D-III and prevailed on Tuesday, while 1-7 Mount Abraham received the No. 12 seed in D-II and came up short on Tuesday.

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ basketball team has done something that has been rare in recent seasons — gone on a winning streak.
On Monday, the Tigers shrugged off an eight-point first-period deficit and knocked off visiting Otter Valley, 53-32, for their third straight win. They also improved to 4-3, cresting .500 for the first time since 2018.

ADDISON COUNTY — In the past week of local high school field hockey action Mount Abraham kept rolling, Otter Valley split a pair of games, and Middlebury remained in search of a victory.
On Oct. 9 the Eagles topped visiting Mount Mansfield, 1-0. Txuxa Konczal’s first-period goal, set up by Molly Laurent, held up as the game-winner as Mount Abe outshot the Cougars, 15-3. Maddie Donaldson earned the three-save shutout as the Eagles improved to 3-0 heading into Tuesday.

ADDISON COUNTY — Wins for Vergennes and Otter Valley highlighted the recent high school girls’ soccer slate. Scoring woes left the Mount Abraham and Middlebury teams on the short end of mostly close losses.
On Oct. 7 host Milton defeated the Commodores, 1-0, despite three saves from goalie Kate Gosliga.
